The Presidential Ballroom features 9,300 square feet of space, fashioned in a stately and elegant design. Arrive from the grand staircase or elevator landing, featuring white Carrara marble and pendant lights, with the foyer prominently featuring the official White Portraits of the 15 U.S. Presidents and 5 First Ladies who have visited the hotel. Entering into the ballroom, hounds tooth patterned carpet carries on the Presidential dressing of the space and the signature twin-barrel vaulted ceilings which host brilliant chandeliers contribute to the regal ambiance.
Historically, the space served as the hotel's open-air Palm Terrace, designed by the landscaper of Balboa Park, Kate Sessions. The terrace was enclosed in the 1950's to create a ballroom and welcomed First Lady Mamie Eisenhower as guest of honor for one of the first events hosted in the space. Today, the ballroom carries the hotel's Presidential legacy.
The built-in stage theatrical stage accommodates audio visual presentations and guest speakers equally as well as it does fashion shows and entertainment.
